As you know that Zanzibar has got many Island that form the name Archipelago Island, the word Archipelago itself means that the group of the Island. In Zanzibar there are 54 Islands found in Zanzibar but only 3 Islands which are inhabitants.

So those inhabitants Island are used for Tourism activities such as Bungalows, Restaurants, Hotel and even Tourist Attractions,and Zanzibar Government is trying to invest other Island so that we can have enough Tourists with enough Tourism.

Talking about what has brought me here is, hopefully you have heard about Prison Island but you ask yourself what exact Prison Island is and what are special are on that Island?

Okay, let us let you know now, the Prison Island is the one of the most known Island found in Zanzibar, in front of Stone Town. This is the small Island but got its fame due to what are on that Island.

On that Prison Island can be found the giant aldabra tortoises brought from Seychelles as gift of the Sultan and his wife and surprisingly enough these tortoises can live up to 300 years but as not enough, on that Island you will be able to see the oldest tortoise all over the world which has 200 years old and this tortoise originally from Seychelles and it is the one of the tortoises brought as a gift.

Apart from the tortoises that can be found on this Island but you can also discover the old Prison built in 1893 to 1894 for the Slaves but fortunately enough never used as Prison but it was as a Quarantine in 1923 for Malaria, Yellow Fever and Cholera, this Prison can still be found even if now it was renovated as it is on the other uses as as Bar, Restaurant, Museum and Souvenirs Shops.

Around the Island, you can do the wonderful Snorkeling seeing the Starfishes, Corals, Fishes and others.

This trip starting from Stone Town where you will take the boat, going to Prison Island and from Stone Town to Prison with the boat only 20 to 25 minutes.
